Many offices environments are designed in open plan formation or with thin partitioned walls and glass, not conducive to extinguisher fitting. This is also the case where the overall appearance of a room is important such as a boardroom or main reception or where the building is of particular architectural importance.

In other environments such as workshops and warehouses extinguishers cannot always be easily wall mounted. Showrooms where the layout is constantly changing are also a suitable candidate for extinguisher stands. Not only do they protect the extinguisher from accidental damage, they are also useful as a fire point making locating an extinguisher easy in case of emergency.
