BAFE Registered Technician Scheme
The introduction of the BAFE (British Approvals for Fire Equipment) registered
Technicians Scheme for the service and maintenance of portable Fire
Extinguishers is the first step within the industry to self regulate
the service we
provide to you.
It is based on ensuring that individual service technicians have achieved
an acceptable knowledge and practical application in the servicing of portable
Fire Extinguishers and Hose Reels.
The Fire Precautions (Workplace) Regulations (1997) states that all Fire
Equipment is to be supplied and maintained by competent persons. By employing
a BAFE Registered firm with BAFE registered service technicians you can
be sure your maintenance is completed by a fully qualified, competent technician.
In order to become a BAFE registered technician, the service engineer must
be employed by a BAFE registered company and the engineer must then
pass the BAFE recognised qualification which is both theory and practical
based.
The technician is then assessed on various sites whilst undertaking
the servicing of fire equipment and this assessment is on-going.
It is
only after this lengthy process that the service engineer receives
his diploma and BAFE Registered Technicians Identity Card.
The BAFE Registered Technicians scheme is the biggest milestone within
the industry since 1984 and it is fast becoming the benchmark for quality
service. If the company you currently use are not BAFE registered and do
not employ BAFE Registered Technicians call or email us to see how we can
improve on the service you are currently receiving.
